[Insert Pop Culture Reference] is some girls, a guy and a pop culture blog, devoted to news and reviews concerning everything from television to gadgetry to comics to music.
Angel is an east coast based writer who works in news to pay the bills and specializes in geekdom to keep her sanity. She can often be found watching vast amounts of genre television, contributing to her ever-growing movie collection, poking around on X-Box Live (ask nicely and you might get a gamertag, though it’s not hard to guess it) or constantly updating her twitter.
Chantaal is a 25 year old part-time college student majoring in Classics, a part-time Nanny, and a full time geek. She split her formative years between Africa and the American east coast, and currently lives in SoCal. She can be found blogging at Girls Read Comics Too, co-running F*ck Yeah Marvel on Tumblr and spamming Twitter.
Laine is an eighteen year old assistant stage manager from Philadelphia, PA, getting ready to start college despite not really knowing what she wants to do with her life, and PCR’s youngest writer. Mostly into movies, she spends most of her free time — and there’s a lot of it — watching bad horror flicks, and the rest of it keeping up with various TV shows and comics. Musical theatre used to be her thing; it isn’t anymore. She can also be found at twitter, both when she’s here and when she isn’t.
Leshia is the first (alphabetically, at least) of PCR’s resident Canadians, for that Northern flavor. She spends her days attempting to scrape her way through some sort of education, being practically unemployable, and indulging in far too much escapism for her own good. Television shows ranging from pretentious HBO dramas to classic 70s sitcoms and comic books are her primary passions, though she’s also something of a film buff.
Lina is the twenty-two year old Chicago-centre of the group. Holding joint degrees in history and english with more minors than necessary, she currently works as a writer/historian/website designer combo, which makes it a relatively bland point in her life. Her passions range from music to soap operas to comics and everything in between (including blending them like a sundae). When not hanging about here, she can be found co-running F*ck Yeah Marvel, dabbling on her travel blog or stating the obvious on twitter.
Nix is entering the last year of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology, with minors in Political Science and History. She hails from the magical land of Canada, where Prime Ministers can get away with asking women if they like handcuffs and you can say sh*t on TV. Her interests range from World War I espionage to the latest issue of The Amazing Spider-Man. She’s not cool enough to have another blog, but that just means you have more time to check out the awesome that is everyone else’s.
Scott is the token guy. A twenty-something New Zealander, he works in what the on-air talent has described as “the bowels” of a television station. When not labouring in such glamorous conditions, he spends his time jumping between all forms of media, devouring fandoms obsessively before abandoning them for the next shiny trinket. He would like one day to be a capital-letter writer (not a capital letter writer, which would be something else entirely), but is still working on the part of that where you write something all the way to the end.
Stefanie is a twenty-four year old writer and amateur photographer living in southern California, still looking for the answer to the question, “What do you do with a B.A. in English?” When it comes to all things pop culture, she believes there should be no such thing as a guilty pleasure, which is taking a serious toll on her hard drive as she careens from one new obsession to the next. This has also developed into a worrying addiction to everything Josh Schwartz makes.
Tracey is a twenty-three year old college student hailing from the Northern New Jersey area. While her major is Political Science, a very serious business sort of topic, she actually has a lifelong love of video games, starting from Atari all the way up to the newest systems of today. While she grew up on RPGs, her tastes in games branches out to all the genres and everything in between. Her other thing is TV shows – she’s a fan of quite a few, though her favorite is The Office at the moment. She went to The Office convention a while back. Yeah, she’s that kind of geek.
Money the Booty Wearing Dog is PCR’s mascot!
